Matthew has been contacted by hundreds of constituents who are worried about Jeremy Corbyn' s plans for a new tax on property and homes.
Labour have made a lot of very expensive promises which will need to be paid for - and we now know where some of the money will come from.
Buried on page 86 of Jeremy Corbyn’s manifesto is a secret Property and Garden Tax. It is backed by the Liberal Democrats and it will cost the average** homeowner in England up to £3,837 in higher council tax bills.
In the Hendon constituency, where property and land prices tend to be higher than elsewhere in the country, people will be hit disproportionately hard.
On a £400,000 home, the tax will be up to £6,600; on a £600,000 home it will be up to £9,900; and on a £900,000 home the tax will be up to a massive £14,850.
Matthew said: “In parts of London such as where we live, this tax would not target large sprawling mansions or country manors with acres of land, but it would affect the modest homes that most of us live in. I am also concerned that it will deter people from buying their first home or moving up the property ladder.
"This tax will punish those who have saved to buy their homes and will even put people off buying homes in and around our area.
"It is clear that Corbyn's plans will be paid for by hard-working people in constituencies like Hendon. This outrageous proposal must be stopped and there is only one way to do that - and that is to vote Conservative on 8th June."
