Following heavy rain, Matthew was contacted by several local residents about flooding in the A1 underpass in Mill Hill. Following a lack of an action by TfL several months ago, assurances were given to Matthew that works would be undertaken.
During the local council election campaign, Labour candidates claimed they had sorted out the problem. This has been proved to be incorrect. As the road is administered by TfL, residents had expected the Labour GLA Member to have the issue resolved.
Last December, TfL reassured Matthew that weekly inspections would take place to ensure clearance of litter and leaves to prevent further blockages.

Having visited the underpass it is clear this has not occurred and Matthew will be contacting TfL once again to ask them to undertake the works they accepted they would.
Matthew said: "As the Member of Parliament it is not my role to continually chase Transport for London, that is the responsibility of the GLA member. However, in the absence of any apparent action by the GLA member, I will continue to do so as the amount of water compounded with the detritus of leaves and rubbish ensured that many school children could not use the underpass this morning."
