Matthew has called for further action on mine clearance at a meeting of cross party MPs in Parliament.
As Chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Explosive Threats, Matthew hosted the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, mine clearance experts and MPs in an event in the House of Commons.
The breakfast meeting was the first in many country focused reports that will be commissioned by the APPG to help clear the world of landmines and improve victim assistance in affected countries.
Since 2020, the UK Government has provided £1million in development funding to help clear landmines in the country.
Speaking at the event, Matthew said: "Whether it is through development funding or the co-operation and innovation of British industry, the UK stands with our friends in Azerbaijan to working towards making their country an ever-safer place."
Also addressing the event was the Azerbaijani Ambassador to the UK, HE Elin Suleymanov and representatives from the Azerbaijani national mine clearance agency.
