As we mark 100 years since the first women gained the right to vote, Matthew has joined schools and community groups in the Hendon constituency as a part of UK Parliament Week.
UK Parliament Week is a UK-wide festival, and aims to engage young people from different backgrounds and communities with Parliament.
Matthew started the day by visiting Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School, taking questions from pupils and talking about the work of Parliament. Matthew then visited Blessed Dominic Catholic Primary School and joined the School Council for lunch, where they spoke about the importance of voting, representation, and discussed arranging a trip to Parliament in the New Year. The final stop was a visit to the 8th Hendon Scouts, who asked Matthew a variety of questions on various political issues of the day.
Matthew said: āI welcome the involvement of people in Hendon during UK Parliament Week 2018. I am determined to ensure that our voters and citizens of tomorrow understand how vital their participation is in our democracy.
āIām delighted to see so many local schools, Girlguides, Scouts and community groups engaging and taking part, and it was a pleasure to join some of them this week.ā
