Matthew was delighted to address a delegation of the Gesher Leadership Institute in the Houses of Parliament.

Gesher is an organisation that promotes a vibrant Israeli society based on mutual respect and grounded in Jewish heritage. Recognising that our biggest threat is our internal strife, Gesher foster dialogues to shatter stereotypes, create common ground and build a shared future in Israel for all Jews. 

Matthew spoke to delegates stemming from business, charitable and media sectors in order to explain how unique Hendon is in terms of its Jewish community and connection to Israel. He further spoke about the large number of faith schools in his constituency and how he works with security services like CST in order to protect the local community from anti-Semitic abuse or attacks.

On the meeting, Matthew said: “It was interesting to meet with delegates of the Gesher Leadership Institute to discuss the perception of Anglo-British relations by residents. The diverse group come from varied backgrounds and communities who asked insightful questions of my perception on Israel.

"Many of those who attended are involved in civic society, media and formal institutions and I look forward to meeting them at their own institutions in Israel in the future”.
