Matthew has taken the opportunity to meet with renowned peace activist Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to discuss his recent initiatives in Ireland, Columbia and the Vatican.
The discussion covered how the work of the Department for International Development can assist in those countries where the administrations have been designated as terrorist organisations and funds have to be channelled away from malign forces, something that was raised with Matthew in the recent general election. It also encourages community groups, organisations and charities to raise money for specific projects by ensuring the money is spent for the purposes for which it was raised.
Matthew and Sri Sri also discussed his work in the Vatican which was focused on child exploitation online and provides an opportunity for the U.K. to learn what other governments, organisations and crime agencies are promoting to address the problem.
Matthew said “The results of Sri Sri’s activism has been astounding. Because it is his belief that spirituality is not limited to any one religion or culture he is able to cross divides and act as a mediator. It is in this area that he has had much success.”
