Matthew met with constituents who took part in The Time Is Now climate change lobby of Parliament. Speaking with several residents he outlined the actions being taken by the Government in addressing this vitally important issue.
As a member of the Environmental Audit Select Committee, Matthew is well aware of what further actions the Government needs to take.
Matthew said: “Like many people, I feel strongly that individually and collectively we have a responsibility to take action to save our climate, nature and people.
"With renewable energy now generating 37.1% of the UK’s electricity and having dropped the use of coal power by almost two thirds this year compared with the first four months of 2018, and making a commitment to double the £1.1 billion currently being spent on preventing climate change and improving the environment through the International Development department, the UK is well placed to be the leader in addressing climate change across the globe.
"I am actively working with Water UK and the Refill campaign to reduce the use of single use plastics in the Hendon constituency. Action not words!"
