Matthew has welcomed new figures showing that since 2010 the number of people in Hendon constituency claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance and Universal Credit while not in employment has fallen by 1,065 - a drop of 42%.
This means more people in work with the security of a job and a regular pay packet so they can provide for themselves and their families.
People are getting off benefits and into work across London, with 480,435 more people in work since the last Labour Government. Across the UK as a whole, there are almost 2 million more people at work than at the end of thirteen years of a Labour Government.
Matthew said: “This is very good news for my constituents who want to work hard and get on. Being in work means more financial security, more families with the stability of a regular pay packet and more people able to enjoy a good life.
"Creating jobs and helping people to come off benefits is a credit to the determination of local people, as well as the Conservatives’ strong, clear economic plan. We need to keep working though that plan - backing businesses to create more good jobs and supporting those who want to work hard - as part of our ambition to achieve full employment.”
