Matthew has welcomed the Education Secretary, Damian Hinds, to Etz Chaim Jewish Primary School.
The Secretary of State and Matthew were joined by Headteacher Mrs Yvonne Baron, teaching staff, and school Governors for a tour of the school.
Etz Chaim is a one form entry primary school which opened in 2011 and has been located on its permanent site since 2013. At the time it was one of the first and few free schools in the country.
The Education Secretary was introduced to staff and discussed a range of issues such as security funding, co-operation between local schools and mental health.
Mr Hinds was shown around the school site and which included the playground facilities and library. Mr Hinds was introduced to teachers and visited classes where he was given handmade ‘thank you’ cards from each year group.
Matthew said: “I was delighted to welcome the Secretary of State to my constituency and especially to this wonderful school.
“Over the years I have got to know the school and its staff very well and I am delighted that the new Education Secretary has had the opportunity to see it for himself.”
