The Department for Transport has announced that they are extending the Delay Repay compensation scheme for commuters delayed by 15 minutes or more.
Under the plan, customers travelling on Thameslink services will soon be able to claim back up to 25% of the cost of the single fare on delays of 15 - 29 minutes. This will be in addition to the existing Delay Repay thresholds which will continue to apply for delays of 30 mins or more:
• 50% of the single fare for delays of 30 to 59 minutes;
• 100% of the single fare for delays of 60 minutes or more;
• 100% of the return fare for delays of 2 hours or more.
Matthew said: “I am regularly contacted by constituents who are aggrieved about rail delays and I share their frustration with the service as it is at the moment.
“I know that, above all, the priority is a reliable rail service but I hope that the extension of the Delay Repay scheme will mean that passengers will feel they are reasonably compensated when things do go wrong.”
