Matthew has warmly welcomed Boris Johnson as the new leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
Boris is a well-known and popular figure in the Hendon constituency where, as Mayor of London, he visited Edgware, Burnt Oak and Mill Hill as well as Hendon.
Matthew said: "People want a leader with courage who is prepared to take tough decisions. I am confident that Boris will do this. Eleven years ago, London was on the back foot but Boris brought a message of hope and, as Mayor, led London successfully for eight years.
"He created new jobs, took tough decisions to tackle crime, cut tube delays, presided over the most successful Olympics for decades and recreated London as a world-leading city drawing in visitors, businesses and investors.
"Brexit has divided our city and our country and people are rightly angry that no decision has been taken. Under Boris’s premiership, I believe that the UK will leave the EU and, equally important, will seize the opportunities that life post-Brexit will bring for our country."
