Matthew has welcomed David Cameron's reponse to his letter expressing concern about the rise in anti-Semitic incidents.
Matthew wrote to the Prime Minister following the boycotting of products which were allegedly manufactured in Israel and the increase in anti-Semitic acts as a result of the recent conflict in Israel and Gaza.
Matthew said: "My constituents have made it very clear that they are concerned about a rise in anti-Semitism and as a consequence their safety in the street and other public places. It is not acceptable that anyone should feel fearful or unsafe because of their religion and I welcome the Prime Minister's commitment that the Government will do everything in its power to tackle anti-Semitism."
Matthew also raised his concerns about boycotts of Israeli or kosher goods and the anti-Semitic nature of such actions in a question to the Prime Minister during PMQs. His question and the Prime Minister’s answer can be seen at http://www.theyworkforyou.com/debates/?id=2014-09-03b.273.10#g279.4
Matthew said: "I feel very strongly on this matter and I will continue to raise these concerns with the Government whenever an opportunity arises."
