I am sickened and disgusted by the anti-Semitic convoy driving through north London today. I stand by my constituents and the Jewish community across London and the UK in standing against anti-Semitism.
I have been in contact with the Met Police to ensure that urgent action is taken and have received the following update from the BCU Commander Chief Superintendent Sarah Leach:
In response to the incidents this afternoon we have requested and secured extra support from Pan-London units as well as retaining on duty significant number of local officers late tonight and into the tomorrow morning. The officers will deployed to key venues working alongside partners to provide the maximum reassurance to the local community and deal robustly with anyone committing racially aggravated offences towards the Jewish Community. We will continue to monitor the situation over the next few days and resource accordingly.
I take this extremely seriously and will do everything I can to provide reassurance to the community.
I urge the community to carry on with their planned activities with extra vigilance and report anything suspicious to Police via 999 or in non-emergency 101.
