Matthew was delighted to bring Leader of the House of Commons and former Foreign Secretary, William Hague, to Mill Hill Broadway Station to support his campaign for step-free access.
Mr Hague - who introduced the Disability Discrimination Act into Parliament 20 years ago which has since resulted in thousands of businesses making changes to their premises - saw for himself the difficulties that are being faced by train users trying to climb the stairs to the platforms.
Matthew said: "Mill Hill Broadway is a key station on the route into London and to Luton airport. I believe the steep steps do prevent some people from using this station and that is not acceptable. I am campaigning with local residents to have a lift installed so that the elderly and disabled, people with suitcases, and parents with children and buggies, will be able to access the station more easily."
William Hague added: “It would be a great improvement and help so many people. I’ll be supporting this campaign as much as I can.”
Matthew concluded: "I am very pleased to have William Hague's support for my campaign, particularly given his record on assisting the disabled with accessibility."
