Children, their parents and friends all took part a special Chanukah party at Kisharon in Hendon at the weekend. The event was also joined by Hendon’s MP Matthew Offord, who had spent the day delivering Chanukah cards. During the party Matthew watched face painting, children’s’ games and filled his own doughnut with chocolate during the afternoon.
Coming in the dead of winter, Chanukah celebrates the triumph of light over darkness, so Matthew took the opportunity to tell those attending about his recent vote against the Daylight Saving Bill in the House of Commons.
Speaking after the event Matthew said: “It is traditional to eat foods fried in oil on Chanukah to commemorate the miracle of Chanukah which occurred with oil. As such, it was obvious that the parents were having as much fun as their children at the party and given the deliciousness of the doughnuts that is understandable.”
