The Government’s £6.5 billion Thameslink programme has already transformed a key part of London’s transport network. 

As part of the programme the station at Farringdon has been rebuilt, a new station constructed at Blackfriars Bridge and redevelopment is currently taking place at London Bridge. 

Benefits for local passengers are set to continue. The Thameslink line will have its own dedicated track from Bedford to Brighton so trains are not delayed at London Bridge. This will allow for more trains and new, longer rolling stock will create much needed extra capacity. 

There is also now a new ticket office at Mill Hill Broadway station and I successfully sought the abolition of cash machine charges at the station, saving users £1.80 per transaction. 

I am pleased to have contributed as the local MP and as Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Thameslink to what has been have achieved so far - but I want further improvements at Mill Hill Broadway station. 

I am campaigning with local residents to have a lift installed so that the elderly and disabled, people with suitcases, and parents with children and buggies will be able to access the station more easily. 

I am concerned that Thameslink improvements could be put at risk if Transport for London were given control of the Thameslink line and it is important that we resisit all attempts for this to happen.
