Matthew was delighted to attend the inaugural pouring of concrete at the Jewish Blind and Disabled charity’s new building on Langstone Way in the heart of Mill Hill East.
Standing alongside the Chief Rabbi, Matthew assisted in the base of the building being laid as part of the construction of a £10 million investment.
The Jewish Blind and Disabled charity helps people who are suffering from sight loss and/or physical conditions with which they need some assistance in order to play an active role in the community. Living in specially adapted homes, support is given to ensure independent living.
The new building, to be known as Ephraim Court after two brothers, will be the eighth property belonging to Jewish Blind and Disabled. The development will provide 23 one-bedroom mobility apartments and 7 two-bedroom mobility apartments as well as an overnight studio apartment for the on-site house manager and a range of communal facilities.
Matthew said: “Sight loss is an issue that is very important to me and I am pleased to see additional facilities being made available. I have been a supporter of the work of Jewish Blind & Disabled for many years and it was a privilege for me to attend the occasion and accompany the Chief Rabbi at the beginning of the construction.”
