On October 7th 2023, we saw the worst massacre of Jewish people since the Holocaust. Since then, the ongoing conflict and loss of civilian life on all sides is extremely regrettable.
I have stood by Israel's right to defend itself against a proscribed terrorist organisation whilst abiding by international law and ensuring the safe passage of aid to Gaza.
The recent events in Parliament marked a new low point in the democratic process of the United Kingdom. The decision by the Speaker to change precedent and allow a Labour amendment to be debated - and for the Deputy Speaker to claim a vote had passed unanimously during the SNP’s Opposition Day debate on Gaza - was unconstitutional. But a greater conspiracy was happening outside Parliament.
The Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC) co-ordinated a protest outside Parliament and urged those who attended to overwhelm Parliament so that “ … they will have to lock the doors of Parliament itself”. Protesters were also urged to “ramp up pressure on MPs”. This is a direct attack on democracy.
Three female MPs, who are not in the Government, now have continual personal protection because of the abuse they have received. Another MP has had his family home targeted by demonstrators. Political offices have been vandalised and burnt. A demonstration was organised against me outside Barnet Council and protestors have tried to disrupt events I have attended. People are undertaking these behaviours at the urging of the PSC, who also provide identical copy emails through their website, in an effort to confront and overwhelm the democratic process.
I therefore will no longer be responding individually to this type of mass email campaign as they are operating outside the political process. Anybody is free to email me but they will not receive a direct reply.
The people of Gaza will never be free until the genocidal, racist, death cult terrorist group of Hamas is removed permanently. I shall spend my time seeking to achieve this conclusion.
